From animal to diesel
Slaughterhouse waste and residue from production animals – primarily pigs and cows – are used to produce biodiesel at the Daka fuel plant.
Slaughterhouse waste and animal carcasses are minced and the mixture is heated to 133 °C.
Water evaporates and the fat is pressed out of the meat.
The fat is heated to 70 °C. Then methanol and a catalyst are added, and raw glycerin and biodiesel separated off.
The biodiesel is then distilled to produce a pure, uniform product.
